Part 2 in the sermon series “Family Discipleship: Time” by Pastor Matt Chandler from The Village Church in Dallas, TX.

Part of our family discipleship framework is creating intentional time, built into the rhythm of our family’s life, for the purpose of thinking about, talking about and living out the gospel.

This is the first sermon in a series on Family Discipleship by Matt Chandler from the Village Church in Dallas, TX.

Before implementing a rhythm of time, moments and milestones in our homes, we must model for our families what it means to live out a genuine walk with God and demonstrate true repentance where and when we fall short.

A challenging message from Deuteronomy 6:4-9 about “Restoring the Family”. Dr. Baucham began by describing why there is a severe need for the family to be restored. The heart of his message was that parents, especially husbands and fathers, would step up to take their God-given role and responsibility seriously. He talked about how we need to have a Biblical-worldview of everything in life, and of our families in particular. He was far from giving a mere “paint-by-numbers” approach to restoring the family, insisting that among the very least of our problems is having Theologically sound parents not knowing how to pass on what they know. He instead talked about how we need to take the Word of God seriously, seeking to love the Lord and His Word. We cannot pass on, what we do not know. And we cannot pass on diligently, what we do not know well. And we will not pass on, what we do not love. Dr. Baucham made it convincingly clear that obeying Deuteronomy 6:4-9 is essential to restoring the family!
