Forgiven, Beloved, Hidden in Christ, Made in the image of the Giver of Life, Righteous and Holy, Reborn and Remade, Accepted and Worthy, this is our new name. This is who we are now.

In this installment of “In Christ” we will be looking at some of the blessings that we have in Christ. Where to start? This is a difficult concept to get our finite minds around. We have endless blessings and gifts in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

But let me start with what I’m not talking about. I’m not talking about debt free, new car, big and expensive home, perfect health, perfect family, and winning the lottery. That is the prosperity gospel and that is heresy. The purpose of our lives is to glorify God, not ourselves. God does not promise us no pain and suffering (He actually tells us that we will suffer for Him), but He does promise that He will comfort us while we are going through it. (2 Corinthians 1:5) Now I’m not saying that God wants you to be poor and sick, I’m just saying that is not how you gauge where you are with The Lord. He builds each person differently and uses different things to get them where they need to be so they can bring glory to Him. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another person.

So now what are some of the blessings that I’m talking about? Let’s start at the beginning. Before Christ found us, we were dead in our sins; slaves to sin, the world and the devil. We were damned to hell, hopeless, lost, and we didn’t even know it, and if we would have known we probably wouldn’t have cared anyway. Life looked bleak, and THEN CAME JESUS. With His life he showed us how to live, He became the new standard. Dying on the cross he redeemed us. He reconciled us to God, justified us before God. Justification is a legal term, it means that with the work of Christ we are made legally right with God. We are free from the law of sin and death; there is now no condemnation for us that live in the Spirit. We were dead and now we are alive forever more, that’s eternal life with our Creator, Savior, and King. And on top of that we have been adopted into His family, we are called children of God, heirs with Christ.

Romans 3:24~ “Being justified freely by His grace through redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 6:11~ “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23~ “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 8:1-2~ “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
2 Corinthians 5:18-19~ “And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”

This is just too good, we will continue this in the next post. Let’s digest these Scriptures for a little while. God Bless.

1 John 4:4~”Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
