We Are More Than Conquerors (Intro)

Why do we as Christians act powerless against the enemy and the world? Have we forgotten who we are and what we have in Jesus Christ? Leonard Ravenhill put it this way, “We need people who actually know in whom they believe.” Do our lives reflect our faith? Do we live in boldness, love, strength, and self-discipline? Do we pray with frequency and passion like one who has direct access to the very throne of God, the One who controls and sustains all creation? Are we living our lives as though we actually believe that we are more than Conquerors, or do we act like we have been defeated?

In this study we are going to look at what it means to be “in Christ.” Since this is such a vast topic we will look at it in three main categories. Although as we go along we will take the study where the Holy Spirit leads us. The three main catergories are:
     1- Blessings and gifts
2- New desires, responsibilities, and duties
     3- The Church.

I think that there are 2 reasons why we don’t live with passion and victory in Jesus. First, we don’t know the riches and power we have in Christ. This is because the majority of Christians, according to statistics, don’t read their Bibles. And I believe the way the Church in America carries itself that it is obvious. Second, even if we know who we are in Christ and the  power that we have in Him, we don’t really believe it.

In the next installment we will look at some of the blessings and gifts that we have being in Christ. Here are some verses to look up if you have time this week:
2 Corinthians 2:14-17, Galatians 2:4, Galatians 3:26, Romans 8, Romans 6:23, Romans 3:24, Philippians ch. 3 and 4

This sounds awesome! I’ve been preaching a series along these lines “Identity Crisis”. Wish I could take part! Hope it goes great for you guys.

  2. Feel free to join in with any thoughts that you have. I am doing the study to dig in deeper myself, and I don’t know if I have anyone else following along or not.

I love the way Paul puts it in Eph. 1:3 where he says that we have been “blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ”. Throughout every one of Pauls prison prayers, he never asks God to give the Christians “stuff”, & in Ephesians, he prays that God would reveal to them what they already have. I believe we suffer terribly b/c we live way below our privilege as children of God. I look forward to your studies!

  3. I look forward to your next installment! Praise God that we are more than conquerors through Him that has loved us! By the way, your blog is excellent! 🙂

One true fact that you pointed out is with the whole statistics of the congregation not reading their Bible. One thing that our Islamic studies professor said is that an everyday Islamic Muslim would destroy a regular everyday Christian. Islamic’s have a passion for their faith, and they memorize large portions of the Quran. I mean I saw on TV where a 12 year old girl memorized all of the Quran. Now just to get a Christian to memorize a couple of chapters would be amazing. It is just that Christians today have no passion for Jesus, and personally I would question their salvation. Which brings me to do Christians really fear the Lord?
